The historic town of Folkestone is situated on the South coast of Kent, only 74 miles from London and 24 miles from France. The name is believed to originate from the word Folcanstan, which probably refers to the ‘Stone of Folca’, Folca being a common old English man’s name. Folkestone offers a wide range of facilities including a sports centre, the famous Warren, restaurants, bistros, cafes, hotels, shops, a working harbour and, of course, the beach.
